What does it mean to be a leveraged expert? And why is that important now?
In my work, I have found the smartest, most capable group of people I’ve ever encountered. The people that I work with are changing lives.
They’re changing people’s ideas of what life could look like. They’re challenging norms, and they’re doing it with regularity. They’re bloggers or podcasters. They’re online business owners, they have courses and digital products that change the shape of the world. And it’s inspiring every day to just be around them.
However, one thing I’ve noticed is that these creators (and you might be in this category) aren’t making as much money as they should. And they think maybe they lack some knowledge, they’re not to the level they need to be in order to start increasing their income.
But it’s not about that.
In fact, let’s take the personal finance industry, for example, because that’s where a lot of my people live.
Think of the most famous person you can think of in personal finance.
Is it Dave Ramsey?
I’m going to go ahead and assume it’s Dave Ramsey.
His entire financial philosophy would fit on one 8.5 x 11 inch piece of paper. But that doesn’t stop him from having a radio show, from having millions of followers, from making a great deal of money in an area where you wouldn’t necessarily expect people to make money in, helping people get out of debt.
Many of my friends and colleagues don’t think helping people get out of debt is lucrative. That they can’t make enough money on that venture. But I’m certain Dave Ramsey has enough money for him and his family for the rest of his life.
So it isn’t about more knowledge.
What it’s about is leverage.
How do you convey the information that you know — that you’ve spent the last decade or two (or more!) cultivating — into a platform that makes you enough money so that you don’t have to worry about college or retirement or any of those other things?
Once you leverage your knowledge, you level up.
And the best news is, you already know enough about your topic to create leverage and start making more money.
It’s not it’s not about knowing more. It’s just about changing things up and to show up and start getting known for knowing something.
That’s what the leveraged expert is all about.
It’s a video series, but it’s also a way to position yourself. A new way to think about your work.
You’re an expert in whatever it is you know what to do. You have put in the time.
Over the next couple weeks, I’m going to get a lot more comfortable in front of the camera. I’ll go live on YouTube and Facebook and Instagram, and if LinkedIn ever allows me to post a video, I’ll go over there too.
Then, in January, just like all good little new projects, The Leveraged Expert will officially launch.
Until then, all the videos in this series are rough (as in ROUGH) drafts. I have a fair amount of hesitation about doing videos, and I need to get more comfortable. Once I’ve gone live a handful of times, there won’t be that “oh goodness what actually happens when I step on the escalator” fear I see in my three-and-a-half year old.
My big vision for the leveraged expert is for everyone who wants to become a leveraged expert to do so. There’ll be free tips during this show, in-person events (the first one is in November 2020, find out more here: https://kathleencelmins.com/retreat/), a book, an online course, and more.
I want you to be a part of it.
I want you to leverage your expertise and start leveling up your income to places you know you can reach.
I want to teach you the best ways to catalog your intellectual property and reach the most people. This will mean that instead of making $5,000 per month, you’re making ten times that amount.
And you won’t hear jargon from me. This is not about hacking. Not about bro marketing tactics. Not about coming in with a hard pitch. Not about teaching you how to be pushier. Not about changing anything about you, in fact.
Except your impact.
It’s about creating value. Offering an incredible ROI.
You are already an expert. Let’s leverage that into the career and life you want.
